Take Barney on spring break, enter to win a $200 gift card
Want to win a $200 gift card for the MHCC bookstore?
It’s as simple as taking pictures on spring break. Pick up a paper photo of Barney, the MHCC mascot, in the bookstore and take pictures of yourself with the photo. Whether going out of the country or going to Mt. Hood for some last-minute snowboarding, take Barney with you.
Bookstore customer service representative Terri Lee said the contest is for students and staff, anyone who has an imagination. “I do believe Barney is underage, so he shouldn’t be in a bar,” she said. “Maybe strapped to a raft going down the Deschutes. But if Barney wants to go to Europe, he can as well.”
Submit pictures to the bookstore the week after spring break. Pictures will then be displayed for students and staff to vote on. The winner will receive a $200 gift card, paid for by the bookstore advertising budget. “We’re always trying to make the bookstore student friendly,” said Lee. “It’s for fun but it’s also a promotional thing.”
Though the bookstore holds monthly contests, this is the first time they are doing the Barney photo contest. Bookstore manager Janet Kehn got the idea from a college list service she receives and passed the idea along to Lee. “This is the first time Mt. Hood has done this,” Lee said. “We’re giving it a go to see how it flows.”
The bookstore will be hosting Easter Golf next Thursday or Friday. Lee said a flier will be hung in the bookstore window Tuesday with the final date for the event. Participants will attempt to hit a plastic egg into a plastic cup to win candy prizes.
