SPOOKY SPOTS ON CAMPUS
’Tis the season to be scary, students and staff of MHCC! If you are a big fan of this season, the college has some truly horrible spots for you to catch a case of the “heebie-jeebies.”
Our first notable landmark of terror is the Academic Center basement, also known as the Facilities Management wing. This area features an underground hallway with humming fluorescents and the occasional wood creaking to accompany the dead silence. Is it truly a bad place to be chased by someone or something as exits are very limited…
The next area can be viewed, but please do not operate or enter the freight elevator on campus. It features an aged wood floor with stains and scrapes from – who knows what? The dusty metal and residues make for an eerie sight. There is a big sign outside of it that states “Not for the transportation of human bodies” but ya never know…

MHCC Gresham Campus architecture is designed with brutalism in mind. Now I don’t know about you, but I cannot think of anything more brutal than some metal tubes running through that hill, and if only I could make a deal with God, and I’d get him to swap our places. The pedestrian tunnels are located north of Parking Lot “J”. There are two of them, side by side, both housing equal amounts of spiders and bus! AND BY EQUAL, I MEAN A LOT.
Lastly the scariest place might be “Testing Services,” Room 2335 on campus. It can be a daunting room for students – for both students making up a test or exam they played sick for but still didn’t study for, and for other students hoping they remember enough high school algebra that they can test out of it!
