Write-in candidate guidelines are open-ended

Two candidates for MHCC District board seats are running unopposed in Tuesday’s special election, so we at The Advocate thought we’d check the formal rules for any write-in opposition.

We found scant guidance in posted Oregon and Multnomah County voting rules, but this much is clear:

a)     Any eligible resident within the overall MHCC voting district may enter the at-large District 7 race, where current board member (and recent appointee) Paul Capell is the lone candidate listed on the ballot.

b)      Any potential write-in candidate for the District 4 seat, where George (Sonny) Yellott is the lone candidate listed on the ballot, must reside in that district – basically the Parkrose-Wood Village portion of Multnomah County.

You can vote for anybody.  You can vote for yourself, your mom or even your dog. Everything is fair game. And if by chance said person got enough votes, than they get the job.
